50/50 stimulant syrup recipe added bio-dynamic teas
Saturday, April 30, 2005

Presentation:
According to some authors of the bio-dynamic movement, some plants have medicinal properties on bees. Sugar syrups that can distribute the bees are free from substances present in the honey, from plants. Of course, honey is the best food for our bees (albeit nourishment honey, basic precautions ...). The addition of carefully chosen herbal teas and decoctions are used to overcome these gaps and to increase very significantly the resistance to common diseases of bees.
We tested the last two years: the first year, we recorded a net decrease of diseases (including AFB) and the second year, none of our hive has been sick. We do so for more administered antibiotic our bees; the impact on the quality of our honey beekeepers are obvious and our minds are calmer since! Prevention is better simply and naturally, than cure chemically!
Recipe:
(for 2 kg spring stimulation syrup)

* 1 kg of powdered sugar (5 kg bag of cane sugar (sucrose)) 1 liter of water with a pinch of salt (to make it more digestible syrup) 1-2 tablespoons of white vinegar (dose for 1 liter -> pH 4.5) 1 tablespoon of bleach unconcentrated non-foaming (for 5 liters)
Heat the sugar and water until dissolved, then after cooling add white vinegar syrup to make it more digestible by changing pH, and bleach (appreciated by bees: observe edges of swimming pools treated with chlorine) to ensure good mixing of asepsis.

Preparing herbal (plant in boiling water with lid and 15 min infusion) separately each of the following plants:

* Chamomilla officinalis (Chamomile) millefollium Achillea (Yarrow) Taraxacum officinalis (Dandelion) Valerian

Preparing decoctions (plant in cold water with lid and 10 min of infusion after a brief boiling) still separately each of the following plants:

* Quercus robur (oak bark) Ortica dioaca (nettle) Horsetail

Mix the seven products thus obtained, in amounts approximately equal, and add to the sugar syrup in an amount of 2 to 3%. To make the syrup even more attractive, you can add honey, boiled preferably (aseptic).
Flow settings:
To ensure a rate as emptying a bottle of 1.5 liters after 10/15 days, we advise you to just pierce the plastic cap using a heated needle seamstress ( control the descent of the next liquid and enlarge or reduce the hole to fine tune your settings). If you use a more concentrated syrup (75%), make the hole with a small heated nail.
